The Local Organising Committee of the 50th Conference of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PME50) is pleased to invite you to attend the conference to be held in Tokyo, Japan, from July 19 to 24, 2027. The conference starts with an early researchers’ day (ERD) for early career researchers on site a day before.

The theme of the conference is “Journey of mathematics education research across boundaries”. As PME celebrates its 50th anniversary conference, this theme was chosen to encourage reflection on the development of mathematics education research in general, and PME in particular, over the past half-century through interactions across various boundaries, including those between cultures, disciplines, and research and practice. We also hope that PME50 will provide an opportunity for participants to envision the future of mathematics education research and explore its emerging challenges and possibilities.

We welcome you to the conference in July 2027 and hope that your visit and stay in Tokyo, Japan, will be exciting, interesting, and inspiring. Our goal is to make the PME50 conference inclusive, welcoming for all, and scientifically successful.
